Season 6 Promises Great Idol Drama

American Idol 2007, otherwise known as Season 6... I know that this quick wrap comes just a little late, as I have been traveling about and a little short on computer time. So unfortunately this season I cannot begin to expound on the somewhat freakish entourage that made the airwaves for the sixth season of America's most watched drama! Yeah, that's right...DRAMA!

No less drama was wasted for Hollywood Week and the tears were flying as usual. Many of the most dramatized hopefuls were sent packing in true Idol fashion. A curt "off you go" from Simon, a sniffle and a "maybe next year" from Paula, and the "Sorry Dog, it just wasn't good enough" from Randy.

I do know this. We ended up with twenty-four very talented hopefuls, and thanks to TIVO I did get to watch the Hollywood Week episode. The line-up goes like this...

Alaina Alexander, 24 from West Hollywood, CA
Antonella Barba, 20 from Point Pleasant, NJ
Rudy Cardenas, 28 from North Hollywood, CA
Jared Cotter, 25 from Kew Gardens, NY
Melinda Doolittle, 29 from Brentwood, TN
Stephanie Edwards, 19 from Savannah, GA
Gina Glocksen, 22 from Naperville, IL
Sundance Head, 28 from Porter, TX
Leslie Hunt, 24 from Chicago, IL
Lakisha Jones, 27 from Fort Meade, MD
Paul Kim, 25 from Saratoga, CA
Amy Krebs, 22 from Federal Way, WA
Blake Lewis, 25 from Bothell, WA
Sanjaya Malakar, 17 from Federal Way, WA
Nicholas Pedro, 25 from Taunton, MA
Chris Richardson, 22 from Chesapeake, VA
Brandon Rogers, 28 from North Hollywood, CA
Haley Scarnato, 24 from San Antonio, TX
Chris Sligh, 28 from Greenville, SC
Sabrina Sloan, 27 from Studio City, CA
Jordin Sparks, 17 from Glendale, AZ
Phil Stacey, 29 from Jacksonville, FL
AJ Tabaldo, 22 from Santa Maria, CA
Nicole Tranquillo, 20 from Philadelphia, PA

So yeah, yeah I'm a little late with this news, but as they say... "better late than never." It's just the beginning for this seasons emerging stars, so stay tuned as I serve up a tasty new wrap each week with all the greatest fixin's only on IdolWrap!

Now I'm off to catch up on this week Idol drama, as I see we've lost four of the above 24 and I haven't a clue why. TIVO here I come!

The Last American Roadhouse Is The Flora-Bama

While I was stumbling around the web looking for some extra Taylor Hicks information, my Sweetie sent me the link for GrayCharles.com. This is where I found a post discussing one of America's most soulful music venues The Flora-Bama lounge located in Perdido, FL on the Alabama state line.

More on The Flora-Bama is coming, but for now check out the documentary being release on this famous roadhouse where many of America's famous artists have entertained many a music lover. Oh, and don't let me forget to mention one of America's most bizarre beachside contests, The Mullet Toss. Yep... OH WHAT A PARTY! You would just have to see it to believe it.

Go to The Last American Roadhouse website for details.

Taylor Hicks Rolls To The Top...Idol Style!

"See you at the finish line buddy" were my exact words when there were a dozen hopefuls left in the world's hottest talent search American Idol! And even though I failed to write about it, I've been saying for months now that it would be McPheever standing right next to him. I just love it when I'm right! Congratulations Taylor! And Katharine... you are still one HOT Rising Star that will no doubt be singing your way right onto the big screen one day.

SOUL PATROL! SOUL PATROL! SOUL PATROL! Words that will define Alabama's very own Taylor Hicks as he adventures on into the world of super-stardome. And I'm predicting that Mr. "Gray Charles" as Taylor has been referred to by some of the locals down here in good old L.A. will be making plenty of headlines as he and his fellow IdolMates will be heading off to tour The States all Summer long. For more details, you can go to Fox's AmericanIdol.com

For some less commercial information on America's Soul Patrol leader himself, check out The Gray Charles (GrayCharles.com) website. This is a clean WordPress driven site with active blogging toting the sub-title of "The Taylor Hicks Weblog - Make It Do What It Do Baby." The site is packed with conversation on Taylor and his musical, soulful journey. Having much to offer a true SOUL PATROLLER on the grass-roots icon, I was unable to determine the true owner of this site, as the registered owner, though from Birmingham, appears to be a ficticious name.

If you are wanting to get Taylor Hicks most recent CD release Under The Radar, its available at Laser's Edge Records located in Taylor's home town of Birmingham, Alabama.

Well...that about wraps up season five here at The HotBlog Stand. Again, congratulations Taylor Hicks and hugs and kisses to the very luscious Katharine McPhee for being right there with him all the way! You ROLL ON there SOUL MAN. We are looking forward to next seasons Idol Wrap, and we can't wait to see what next for America's most watched prime-time entertainment American Idol.

Ten Idols Remain As They Says Goodbye To Chicken Little

Wednesday's "Results" show starts out as usual with a montage of last nights performances and as usual the recap points out some choice words between Paula and Simon.

Then all eleven (11) idols "got the beat" in the fourth Ford commercial of this season. The funniest part of it was Idol's own teenage sex symbol "Chicken Little" himself, Kevin Covais, buried in the sand under a Schwarzenegger-like sand sculpture.

We were then entertained by "The Man Who Writes The Songs That Make The Whole World Sing," Mr. Barry Manilow himself, with a title from his new 50's album called "Love Is A Many Splendored Thing."

The elimination wittled the contestants down to Buckie and Kevin, Lisa being the third lowest. In the end, it was "Chicken Little" who was voted off this week. His moving exit montage was graced with a very sincere Kevin cheering on his fellow Idolmates.

Farewell Kevin! I have a feeling that we will be hearing from you again Sir Chicken Little.

The Dazzling Dozen IdolWRAP

Following the recap, Ford Motor Company starts it off with "All I Want Is To Be This Way" in unique campfire scene featuring all of the Dazzling Dozen in a somewhat corney musical skit. The biggest high of the Ford commercial was when the super-sexy Katherine McPhee pulled up to the party done up as a park ranger... Yum Yum!

Next, Stevie Wonder entertained America with a fresh new song and touched the souls of everyone in the crowd, including the cast from the new FOX TV pilot "The Loop."

Ryan Seacrest stirs the dozen up in his usual tortuous way as he picks through America's hottest new talent and eventual ended up with Ace Young, Melissa McGhee, and Lisa Tucker. When I saw the line-up, I already knew that it was Melissa's last day on American Idol, the #1 Show in America right now!

We hope you all have enjoyed this weeks IdolWRAP. Please come again.

The Dazzling Dozen Strut Their Stuff For Stevie

My second Idol WRAP is filled with guys this time. Read on as we wrap up last night's live performance of America's most hopeful emerging stars.

Idol #1 Ace Young, 25, Denver, CO

I know millions of star-struck female fans where beginning to drool as Idol's sexiest dude tries on Stevie's “Do I Do”, Randy said it was just "a'right" for him, Paula on the other hand definitely has the hots for the Young Ace and loves his spirit and his "cool dance moves." Simon called it "a bit manic" and didn't feel he had it tonight. We kind of agree with Simon on this one. Pick it up Ace, your fans are lusting for you to become our next American Idol.

Idol #2 Kellie Pickler, 19, Albemarle, NC

Idol's cutest blondie performed a sleepy rendition of Stevie's “Blame it on the Sun” and it "just didn't work" for Randy, although he loved her shoes. It was a little "too safe" for Paula, and Simon said he almost went to sleep and it was her worst performance so far. What can we say... you blew it this week Kelly, but we're sure you'll be back next week.

Idol #3 Elliot Yamin, 27, Richmond, VA

Sporting a white sports jacket, Elliot tried on Stevie's “Knocks Me Off My Feet”, and while it wasn't his best performance according to Randy, but it had "flavor". Paula praised his passion and thinks he's "an amazing singer." Simon called it his "best so far," but not incredible. We kinda agree with Randy on this one. Work it out Elliot!

Idol #4 Mandisa, 29, Antioch, TN

She came on to the stage in a with "barking dogs," and Ryan wasted no time in taking her shoes off of her aching feet. That's when she performed Stevie's "Don't Worry About A Thing" and Randy just didn't think is way great, but she was the "best so far", Paula thinks Mandisa can sing anything and loved it. Simon agreed that it was the best performance so far.

Idol #5 Bucky Covington, 28, Rockingham, NC

Our all-American country boy struts his stuff to Stevie's "Superstition" the crowd came to their feet. Randy "actual really enjoyed it" as did Paula, Simon praised his performance, but wants him to do something with his "Jessica Simpson" haircut. We like you just the way you are Bucky... Good Show!

Idol #6 Melissa McGhee, 21, Tampa, FL

I'm not sure why the judges went so easy on Melissa. The song was just not doing it for us. She forgot her lyrics, and Randy called her on it, but felt that she worked it out. Paula felt it was soothing and nice. Simon called it her "best performance so far. We just didn't feel it. Sorry Melissa "

Idol #7 Lisa Tucker, 16, Anaheim, CA

Singing “Signed Sealed Delivered”. Randy thought the end was hot, but not the middle. Paula just loved to see her taking some chances, and Simon told her it was one of the best performances of the night and that she had the "it" factor going for her.

Idol #8 Kevin Covais, 16, Levittown, NY

Singing Stevie's “Part Time Lover” Idol's youngest make-up wearing new sex symbol is Chicken Little in the flesh, and his fans just love him. He was "in time" according to Paula, and Randy liked it too. The best part was when Simon got slammed by the young rising star for calling it "appauling." He said, "it's okay, I wasn't expecting much from you anyway," and the crowd goes wild. Great show Kevin!

Idol #9 Katherine McPhee, 21, Los Angeles, CA

A hot performance from one of America's sexiest idols alive. Katherine did a great rendition of Stevie's “Until You Come Back to Me” and get's great remarks across the board from the judges and the audience went wild. Randy called her "the bomb", I say "bombshell", Paula's heart was pierced, Simon compared her to Kelly Clarkson and put it quite simply, saying "You're Good!" The dress has to go Katherine... you are way too hot for that granny dress Dude.

Idol #10 Taylor Hicks, 29, Birmingham, AL

What can I say, Idols own soul captian steals the show with “Living for the City” Randy raved, Paula absolutely digs hims, and Simon had to admit that he "can" sing even though he chose to compare him to a "drunken dad". You rock Taylor. See you at the finish line buddy!

Idol #11 Paris Bennett, 17, Fayetteville, GA

She's definitely got the stuff to keep on rising to the top. Belting out the Stevie classic “All I Do”, The cute young super-star may have delivered the best performance yet. Randy said the "was unbelievable", Paula thought she sang like a "seasoned veteran", and even Simon called her performance "brilliant." Keep it up Paris and you just may be able to finish just below Taylor at #2. Great show.

Idol #12 Chris Daughtry, 26, McLeansville, NC

According to Simon, Chris delivered the only "real-world" performance of the night and the best of the show. Paula said it was fantastic. Randy said he "worked it out"... and the audience completely agreed. Great show Chris, your definitely a contender

Well, there you have it. One tasty IdolWRAP for all to devour. We wonder just like you who will be going home tomorrow night. Any guesses?

Thank Stevie!

Good Night and God Bless!

The Loop Debuts On Fox TV

"The Loop", a new hip comedy, debuted on Fox TV tonight. This program showcases the trials and tribulations of the "youngest executive ever" at a Chicago-based airline, Sam Sullivan.

This guy reminds The Rocket and I of one of those "whiz kids" from college who seemed to always land in a pot of gold when it comes to matters of business and finance. But not so in matters of the heart.

You see, he's in love with one of his female friends, but he's afraid to tell her. Sound familiar? Yeah, it did to us too.
But we try to think about it this way....
He has to be portrayed as a doofus in some area of his life. You know, to make him more lovable.

We just wonder........

How do change your pants in a car and forget to change your shoes??
What's up with the sexual harassment thing going on with the hot older female executive??
What kinds of cruel things will come out of his boss's mouth next??
Will his hair grow back??
Why shouldn't airline executives wear pirate hats??

These are the questions The Rocket and I need answered.
And since we did laugh alot while watching, we'll be watching again next week. (It's on the TIVO)

Until next week,
This is Aunt Brenda reporting for PlanetWebsite.

Four More Down And Twelve Idols To Go

I'll cut right to the quick of it and tell you that the two Idols with the lowest votes this week are Kinnik Sky and Will Makar. Both were graceful and cheerful with their parting comments.

Now before the first two cuts, we were entertained by last year's runner up, another Alabama superstar Bo Bice, as he did a lackluster performance of his current hit song.

The last two cuts were in typical Seacrest fashion as he started with the ladies and selectively put the girls up on theer pedestal one at a time. In the end, it was a teary-eyed Ayla Brown that joined Kinnik Sky and will be going home this week.

The guys endured the same Seacrest torment and it was between Bucky and Gideon at the end and Buckie made the cut. Good luck in your new music career Gedeon... you'll go far and will be missed.

So that's it. We'll say goodbye for now to Kinnik Sky, Ayla Brown, Gedeon McKinney and Will Makar. You are all rising stars and we look forward to seeing you shine forever.
